Section:Sch I 12 :Stoppage Of Work

Obligation : To put up notices of stoppage of work as soon as practicable and pay workers wages if they are detained

Type:Notice Frequency: Quarterly

Action to be taken:
If there is a stoppage of work during working hours, put up a notice in the departments concerned as soon as practicable regarding resumption of work and whether the workers are to remain or leave. If workers are detained for more than 1 hour, the workers have to be paid wages for the time of detention. If practicable, reasonable notice should be given for resumption of work. If workers are laid off for short periods, the period of unemployment shall be treated as compulsory leave or leave without pay. Of workmen have to be laid off for an indefinitely long period, their services may be terminated.

Audit Requirement:
In case of any stoppages at work, have notices been put up as soon as possible ? Are workers who are detained been paid wages if required ?
