Section:72-74 :Notice Of Lockout or Strike in Public Utility Services
Obligation : To provide notice of a lock out to the affected employees and report notices of lockouts or strikes to the appropriate authority in a public utility service

Action to be taken:
In case of an intention to lock out employees under Section 22 (Public Utility Services), the prescribed notice in Form M is to be displayed conspicuously by the employer on a notice board at the main entrance, and in the Manager's Office. Where a registered trade union exists, serve a copy of the notice on the Secretary of the Union. An intimation of a strike or lock out, where a lock out or strike previously exists in the public utility service, is to be sent in Form N. On receipt of a strike notice or handing out of a lock out notice, submit a report of notice of a lockout or a strike, personally or by registered post, to the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) appointed for the area concerned with a copy by registered post to the authorities mentioned in Rule 74.
Audit Requirement: In case of a lock-out, has adequate notice been given to the workmen, and submitted or intimated to the prescribed authorities where necessary ?
