Section:49 :Welfare Officers

Obligation : To appoint welfare officers in every factory having >500 workers

Type:Preventive Compliance Frequency: Half Yearly

Action to be taken:
If the factory has more than 500 workers, hire welfare officers as prescribed in the State Rules

Have an adequate number of qualified welfare officers been appointed ?

(1) In every factory wherein five hundred or more workers are ordinarily employed the occupier shall employ in the factory such number of welfare officers as may be prescribed.
(2) The State Government may prescribe the duties, qualifications and conditions of service of officers employed under sub-section (1).
