Definitions

Section Term Definition
2(a) Act 'Act' means the Minimum Wages Act, 1948
2(b) Advisory Committee 'advisory committee' means an advisory committee appointed under section 6 and includes an advisory sub-committee appointed under that section
2(c) Authority 'Authority' means the authority appointed under sub-section(1) of section 20
2(d) Board 'Board' means the Advisory Board appointed under section 7:
2(e) Chairman 'Chairman' means the Advisory Board , the Committee or the Advisory Committee,as the case may be,appointed undersection 9
2(f) Committee 'committee' means a Committee appointed under clause of sub-section (1) of section 5 and includes a sub-committee appointed under that section
2(ff) Day 'day' means a period of twenty-four hours begining at midnight
2(g) Form 'form' means a form appended to these rules
2(h) Inspector 'Inspector' means a person appointed as Inspector under section 19
2(i) Registered Trade Union 'registered trade union' means a trade union registered under the Indian Trade Unions Act, 1926
2(j) Section 'section' means a section of the Act
2(k) All Other Words and Expressions All other words and expressions used herein and not defined shall have the meaning respectively assigned to them under the Act.
