The Central Government published the draft Model Standing Orders for the Manufacturing, Mining and Service Sector under sub-section (I) of Section 29 read with Schedule I of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.

A separate Model Standing Orders for the Service Sector has been Introduced and published for the first time.

The major changes are inclusion of fixed term contract, Concept of Work from Home and any worker is found guilty of any misconduct for three or more be considered habitual etc.

According to the revision in the rules, ‘fixed term employment’ is now applicable irrespective of the industry. No permanent employees can be converted into fixed term employees by the employer. Wages, allowances and hours of work cannot extend beyond those of permanent employees
