Since times call for an increased duration of lockdown, the ministry has issued a fresh notification stating that it is not mandatory for wages to be paid following the 18th of May. While wages up to May 17th must be paid for workers in essential and non-essential services, workers in essential services working after may 17th must be paid in full. Salaries must be paid to those working from home proving contribution of services through timeseheets etc. If employees are reluctant to work following relaxations of restrictions, he may be marked absent. If employees are unable to attend work due to containment, lack of transport or being in the red zone, the employer may decide whether or not to pay wages. |
