    OFFENCES

    Section Offence Penalty
    21(1) Failure to pay maternity benefit or discharging or dismissing such woman during or on account of her absence from work due to maternity Imprisonment for not less than 3 month but may extend to 1 year and / or fine not less than Rs. 2000 but may extend to Rs. 5000.
    21(2). Contravening the provisions of the Act where no other penalty is provided by or under this Act Imprisonment upto 1 year and / or fine Rs. 5000.
    22 Obstructing Inspector: Failing to produce on demand by the Inspector any register or document or concealing or preventing any person from appearing before or being examined by an Inspector Imprisonment upto 1 year and / or fine Rs. 5000.
