ABOUT THE ACT

Objectives:

The Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Act provides for the exemption from furnishing returns and mantaining registers under certain labour laws for employers in establishments employing a small number of people.

Applicability

The Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Act applies to certain establishment (industrial establishments, factories, plantations, newspaper establishments) which are small (not less than 10 and not more than 19 employees) or very small (not more than 9 employees). Acts under which exemptions are available are listed in Schedule I.
